In all honesty I saw this coming, and a large portion of me is agitated at myself for not leaving sooner and forcing the move
But my wife has made a number of “compelling” arguments for staying in Denver. Instead of getting a nice place on a reasonable plot with a workshop, I get to look forward to moving into another 60+ year old brick shithouse with really nothing I would want in a place. To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement.

Poop is a nice way of putting it. I’m trying to be supportive and say everything is gonna be alright but at the same time looking at listings and screaming internally

This is a bigger disappointment than my 3rd Tercel

Unacceptable. PNW Oppo needs you.

Can't compromise and get a nicer non-shitty not-brickhouse in denver?

Could be worse! I live in Oklahoma!

Not bloody likely. I could afford a nice place in Puyallup or outer GH. Here, houses are $California. I have a choice of either tiny fuckall home or Lochbuie
I don’t want to commute to downtown from Lochbuie

I’ll try to make you feel better about it. The beer in the PNW sucks, there are no good restaurants, the weather is always terrible, there’s nothing to do outside, the scenery is lame, the job market blows, everyone is a douchebag.
All that being said however, doesn't make it true. Sorry man.

what’s wrong with Lochbuie?
by Google it’s only 28 miles to Denver?
i was expecting it to be 150+

Why does she want to stay so badly?
Did you tell her you would be disappointed by staying?

Will this be any improvement from your last home at all? I really hope she didn't get cold feet right at the end after you already sold, such that you're forced to make a downgrade?

everyone is a douchebag
I mean that’s obvious based on PNW opponauts...

If I don’t get a garage I’m getting a divorce

28 miles equals a 2 hour commute each direction

Many reasons, some health related

2 hours for 28 miles?
now i see why you’re not keen on the idea.

Puyallup and Gig Harbor are nice, but they are probably far worse commutes to downtown Seattle than your current commute.
Try to find a place with a garage - I like Seattle a lot, but the intermountain west is not a bad place to be. What about something closer to downtown? Arvada’s slightly
more expensive, but pretty reasonable and decent schools. And the houses usually have at least a single car garage.

The office I was going to work from is in Federal Way, so Puyallup/Gig Harbor was gonna be nice
Lived in Arvada before; it’s on her list. I’d prefer south myself but at this point whatever. I’m certain I’ll come around but right now the ennui is strong

eh honestly, Gig Harbor to Federal Way is probably a solid hour in the am. Puyallup is probably a touch shorter.
Hopefully you can find something nice for the right price, I’m sure it’s out there.

Heh I spend 45 minutes commuting 9 miles from Thornton to downtown Denver.

Ouch, that’s enough to make one consider a bicycle.
